Entry and residence formalities for Monaco

Nationals of countries outside the European Economic Area (EEE), including Japanese nationals, wishing to visit the Principality of Monaco must be in possession of a valid passport and a visa for the Schengen area.

Consequently, requests for visas to enter Monegasque territory (Schengen Visas or Visa Territorially Limited to France) must be made to the Embassy of the country of the Schengen Area that will be the entry point for a stay in Europe. Once a Schengen visa has been obtained, a visit to the Principality can be made with no additional formalities.

The Principality of Monaco is situated 22 km from the Nice Côte d'Azur International Airport.

The Principality can be reached by car, by train, by bus and by helicopter (a 7-minute flight from the Airport).
